Welcome to Jordan! Upon arrival at Queen Alia International Airport, you'll be met and transferred to your hotel in Amman. Settle in and enjoy a welcome meeting with your tour leader and fellow travelers. The rest of the evening is free to explore the vibrant capital at your own pace.

Begin your day with a guided tour of Amman, visiting the ancient Citadel perched atop Jebel al-Qala'a with panoramic city views, and the impressive Roman Amphitheatre dating back to the 2nd century. Then head north to Ajloun Castle, a magnificent 12th-century fortress built by Saladin's generals. Continue to Jerash, where you'll walk through colonnaded streets, past temples, and through triumphal arches of one of the best-preserved Roman cities outside Italy.

Travel south to Madaba, the "City of Mosaics," to see the famous 6th-century Byzantine Mosaic Map of the Holy Land in St. George's Church. Continue to Petra for the evening.

Trip Information
All visitors to Jordan need a visa. UK, USA, Australia, NZ, Canada, EU and South Africa citizens can get a visa on arrival for 40 JOD. The Jordan Pass (from $99) includes visa fee waiver and entrance to 40+ sites including Petra - highly recommended!
Best time to visit: March to May and September to November. Summer (June-August) can be very hot, especially in Wadi Rum and the Dead Sea area. Winters are mild but evenings can be cold in the desert.
The local currency is the Jordanian Dinar (JOD). ATMs are widely available in cities. Credit cards accepted in hotels and larger restaurants. Carry cash for smaller shops and tips.
